Overview

Rend brings conversational direction and visual video editing into one project. A creator can start with an idea, reference images, narration, or existing footage, then ask an AI agent to build and revise the edit. Rend Studio gives that work a visible timeline and a place to review the result.

MTB’s portfolio scope covers AI integration, product UX, and creative tooling. The current product extends that scope into a shared web and desktop workspace for video production.

The challenge

An AI-generated clip is only one part of a finished video. Production also needs pacing, audio, caption timing, source selection, and a consistent delivery format. When those details live across separate conversations and tools, a revision can lose the structure of the original edit.

The product needed to let a creator direct changes in natural language while keeping the video’s underlying parts available for review and further editing.

Our approach

Rend uses a structured project to hold source clips, cut timings, audio, captions, and visual settings. Studio displays the edit, while agent tools read and update the same project. The backend routes timeline and audio edits through a shared command interface rather than maintaining a separate chat-only version.

The production workflow can combine imported footage with generated shots. Narration provides a measured timing reference, and caption cues remain editable within the project. Revisions can reuse unchanged media and create a separate export for the new cut.

MCP connections expose production and editing tools to compatible AI clients. The implementation includes a remote Studio endpoint and a local transport; their setup and account availability differ. The desktop client provides another way into the hosted workspace.

The public site demonstrates the relationship between a brief, a timeline, and a reviewable video. It also explains the current beta setup so creators can understand what is needed to connect their agent.

The outcome

The result is a video workspace that keeps conversational requests tied to an editable project. Creators can inspect the cut in Studio, revise specific parts, and retain previous exports as the work develops.

Imported and generated media stay tied to the edit, so revisions can reuse work that already fits and focus on the parts that need to change.
